May 20, 2009- Little Britches Fundraiser at Le Chateau a Terriffic Success
The wine-tasting fundraiser at Le Chateau in South Salem to benefit Little Britches on May 15th was a great success and exceeded all expectations, according to Susan Sieber.
Little Britches mission is to expand and challenge the physical and emotional boundaries of children with special needs through the movement of the horse. Facilitating sensory integration, self esteem, physical strength and mental well-being, Little Britches provides recreation for a lifetime for these children.
Little Britches' equine-assisted riding program allows physically, emotionally and/or developmentally challenged children to interact with horses in a variety of ways. Children develop strong bonds with the horses as they learn to groom, handle and ride them.
Horseback riding helps children with physical disabilities to improve muscle tone, balance and coordination. Riding allows students to move more independently, allowing them to experience a new way of seeing the world.  Little Britches charges no fees to participants in its programs.
Supporters of the fundraiser enjoyed the spectacular views from Le Chateau, marvelous food and wine, exceptional sweets and a demonstration by Teddy Bear, one of Little Britches star therapy horse.
